Roy trained at the University of Strathclyde School of Architecture and Building Science and qualified, with honours, in 1976. Roy’s career commenced in the private sector and he entered independent private practice in 1989. He was joined, in partnership, by Peter Monaghan in 1991.
 
Roy’s has been a nationally elected councillor to the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland, through which position he was a nominated spokesperson on Healthcare Buildings and convener of the committee for Continuing Professional Development. He has also served on the Council of the Glasgow Institute of Architects.
 
He has a significant experience in designing for healthcare environments and has developed a special interest in the linkage between health / well being, natural environments and the agenda for sustainable development.
 
Roy’s role within the practice includes strategic overview and direction on all projects, the practice’s professional interests and active job running.
