Provision of in-patient mental health accommodation at Bellsdyke Hospital. The scheme consisted of the refurbishment and alteration of existing buildings and the provision of new rehabilitation accommodation and separate individual trial living houses.
Proposals were developed through meetings and presentations with Forth Valley NHS Trust, patients, carers, health professionals and the surrounding community. The building form was determined through user requirements and environmental control issues whilst building location was determined by purpose. The relationship of buildings and landscape was also considered to encourage a sense of community and safety for residents and carers.
