Proposal to develop residential and commercial premises to provide 10 new houses and 9 class 4 business units.
In general the design seeks to maintain an aesthetic for both the business units and the housing that is contemporary but with a form, scale and materials palette that compliments the rural ‘cottage/village’ feel typified by the existing buildings nearby and those existing on the site which are to be retained and renovated. Scale is also kept modest by adopting a 1½ or 2 storey section.
The scheme has to be respectful of natural features such as a pond, the nearby parkland and the river running along the east boundary.
Suggestions have also been made to restore the pond and open it up to the proposed new housing and business units by a series of paths, occasional seating areas and new planting.
